Carol Larson recently returned to her long time love of “radio” after a 33-year career in television. Today what used to be called radio includes “podcasting” which Carol describes as “radio you dial up on the computer.”
In late 2015, she and co-conspirator Mary Helen Conroy went “live” with an online podcasting hub directed at “the newly and nearly retired” called Retiree Rebels. Within a year, they celebrated 10-thousand downloads of spoken word essays, interviews and discussions relevant to the changed world of retirement today, inspiring others like them to “Ditch the Rocking Chair!”
Carol has recently expanded her voice business, Carol’s Voice, to include audio services that assist others in discovering the growing world of podcasting. She has worked with authors, personal trainers, business coaches and others to better communicate with their website visitors and potential clients.
The foundation of all her work is as a writer, presently of essays, podcasts, op-eds, short stories, and –coming soon– her first published novel. As a TV reporter and documentary producer she earned a slew of awards, including an Emmy and two DuPont Columbia Silver Awards. In 2013 she won a Writers Digest National award for Inspirational Writing.
Carol is a member of Wisconsin Women Entrepreneurs; WI Sisters in Crime; Wisconsin Writers Association; Writers Must Eat! (co-founder); The Transition Network; is an alumni of the UW Madison and in 2010 was awarded Emeritus status from UW-Extension.
